Meet and Greet Volunteer

What do meet and greet volunteers do?

Meet and greet volunteers welcome our participants/carers to sessions with warmth making them make them feel at ease and reassured. A meet and greeter will also oversee the completion of the session registers and coordinating any bookings.

Why become a meet and greet volunteer?

As the first friendly face participants and carers see when they arrive, you set the tone for each session—helping people feel welcome, comfortable, and ready to enjoy their experience. It’s the perfect role for anyone who loves meeting new people, chatting, and creating a warm, positive atmosphere. You’ll play a key part in adding that personal touch we pride ourselves on, making every participant feel valued and supported from the moment they arrive.

What can I get involved with in this role?

You can get involved with:

  • Welcoming participants with warmth and makes them feel at ease and reassured
  • Ensuring people have seen and understand the Wheels for All code of conduct
  • Ensuring insurance document is visible
  • Getting to know participants and carers to understand the participants’ capabilities, any essential or helpful aids, potential triggers and assistance required
  • Passing on any helpful information learnt from the participant / carer to the session/activity leaders

What makes a great meet and greet volunteer?

A great Meet and Greet Volunteer is warm, friendly, and approachable, making every participant and carer feel immediately welcome and comfortable. They are confident communicators who enjoy chatting, listening, and connecting with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude are key, especially when supporting new participants or those who may be feeling nervous. Above all, meet and greet volunteers bring energy, kindness, and a personal touch, helping to create the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that defines our sessions.

Do I require any training for this role?

All Meet and Greeters complete our Wheels for All Training, providing a strong understanding of our inclusive approach and helping to develop the communication and people skills needed to warmly welcome and support participants and carers.
