What does a trustee do?

A Wheels for All Trustee contribute expertise to provide the robust and vibrant governance that is needed to ensure the charity remains focused on our strategic objectives, operate effectively and efficiently, and achieve our ambitions to grow.

Why become a trustee?

Becoming a trustee with Wheels for All is a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of people of all abilities. As part of our Board, you’ll help guide an inclusive cycling charity that transforms communities, providing freedom, confidence, and joy to those who might otherwise face barriers to cycling. With just eight evening meetings a year and the chance to contribute a few hours monthly on projects that match your skills, you can play a pivotal role in shaping our growth, impact, and vision for the future. What can I get involved with in this role?

You can get involved with:

  • Attending evening Board meetings (via Microsoft teams meeting)
  • Contributing to projects and working groups within relevant area of expertise

Do I require any training for this role?

All new trustees take part in a structured board induction to help you feel confident and informed in your role. This includes an introduction to our strategy, governance, and responsibilities as a trustee, along with any relevant training to support you in areas such as safeguarding, compliance, and good charity governance, so you can contribute effectively from the start.

Volunteer onboarding

Once created your volunteer profile on Kinetic+, our onboarding process is designed to make you feel welcomed, informed, and ready to get started. We’ll guide you through a few simple checks, including a standard DBS check and the collection of two volunteer references, followed by an induction to our charity, team, service users, cycles and much more!
