Bike Active North Suffolk (BANS)

Bike Active North Suffolk (BANS) is based in Halesworth, Suffolk. They support and encourage cycling as a way to experience the benefits associated with gentle exercise in the rural environment, improving physical and mental health and breaking down barriers such as isolation.

BANS provide adapted cycling for any adult with a disability or differing needs.

Initially the Hub will use part of Sustrans NCN1 route through the natural beauty of Halesworth Millennium Green, which is used by pedestrians, dog walkers and cyclists only.

The Halesworth route passes through grazing pastures, is around 1.2 miles in total, lasting typically 30 minutes. Sessions are delivered by trained volunteers. Helmets and tabards are provided.

Sessions run alternate Tuesdays, each with three sessions as follows:
10:30 - 11:30am
11:30 - 12:30pm
12:30 - 11:30pm

Sessions normally run April – October, but will close sessions in extreme weather conditions.

Suggested donation for each participant is £5 per session (note - a carer or responsible adult must accompany each client, donation-free)

You are welcome to bring your own refreshments, or sample cafes etc in the town centre. From the start and finish point at the basketball court, hard surface accessible paths lead to the town centre and public carpark (a walk of about 400m), with public toilets available about 250m away in the park.

Directions:
The Halesworth town centre car park is accessible from the A144 Saxons Way. From the car park, on foot follow the Sustrans NCN1 cycle signs, proceeding under the underpass at the far end of the main car park. Walk through the Town Park and turn right just after you cross the wooden bridge over the Town River. Pass the skateboard park to find the BANS start and finish point at the basketball court (the entrance to our session route on the Green is straight ahead) – the basketball court has a “What Three Words” location of ///obstruct.butchers.driftwood.
