Wheels for All is proud to share the highlights from our very first Pedal Together LCR event - a day filled with collaboration and conversation around the future of inclusive cycling across the Liverpool City Region.
Delivered in partnership with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and led by Simon O’Brien and Ian Tierney, Pedal Together LCR created a dedicated space for professionals, advocates, and community voices to come together to explore how cycling can be made truly accessible for everyone.
The event featured guest speakers Chris Boardman CBE, Commissioner of Active Travel England, and Ceriann Tunnah, Associate Director of Population Health, who both shared their insight on the health, social, and environmental benefits of inclusive cycling.
Attendees from across healthcare, local government, volunteering, and lived experience joined in open discussions about the opportunities and challenges of growing participation and the vital role Wheels for All can play in connecting people who may otherwise feel excluded from cycling.
Watch the highlights below:
One of the most moving parts of the event came from Mo and Sue, two participants from Wheels for All Croxteth Park, who shared their personal stories about what inclusive cycling means to them and the difference it’s made in their community. Their words brought to life the impact of accessible sessions and the sense of freedom and connection that cycling can bring.
Speaking after the event, Wheels for All CEO Ian Tierney said:
“Pedal Together LCR was a brilliant example of what can happen when organisations and individuals come together with a shared purpose. We’ve started an exciting conversation about how we can grow inclusive cycling opportunities across the region and this is just the beginning.”
The energy in the room made it clear that there’s huge potential for collaboration across Liverpool City Region, from active travel planning and community health to volunteering and local engagement.
A huge thank you to everybody who attended and took part in this important event, we are excited to continue our work across the region and beyond.
