Copeland Wheels For All are recruiting volunteers to lend a helping hand at our inclusive cycling centre based at Copeland Stadium in Whitehaven, Cumbria.
At Copeland Wheels For All we provide cycling sessions that are suitable for people who have disabilities, learning difficulties, mobility issues or suffer from senior health issues and want to get fit.
We do this by providing weekly cycling sessions with a range of bikes suitable for everyone that includes trikes (3 wheeled bikes), quads (4 wheeled bikes), hand cycles (pedal with hands), tandem (you sit side by side) and a velo plus (a wheelchair transporter bike). The bikes enable everyone to experience riding a bike as the cyclist or a passenger.
We’re on the lookout for Whitehaven and Hensingham residents and students who could help bring the Wheels For All sessions to life in the area with their people skills, life experiences, cycling enthusiasm and drive to make the community a better place to live, grow and enjoy.
Volunteers can help to deliver the inclusive cycling sessions by setting up the cycling session, matching participants to bikes, maintaining/fixing bikes, making everyone feel welcome and riding around the track to boost confidence and show support.
Volunteers can take on as many duties as they like as we understand people have different skills and experiences, we have volunteers who love maintaining bikes but prefer not to cycle and volunteers who love befriending participants to build confidence rather then administration. The choice is yours, we aim to make your volunteer just right for you.
We are also recruiting volunteers from Whitehaven, Workington and Maryport for a Wheels For Centre coming in May 2021.
If this wonderful opportunity to volunteer in the outdoors, appeals to you, please email volunteer@cycling.org.uk for our role description and application pack.
