Wheels for All is delighted to have been awarded £12,000 over three years to support inclusive cycling activities for disabled people in South Lakeland.
The funding has been awarded by Cumbria Community Foundation through the Lakeland Disability Support Fund and the Pappagallino Fund.
Combined with support from The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust, the funding will help Wheels for All continue delivering regular activities from our Kendal Hub, creating opportunities for disabled people and those with additional needs to experience the physical, social and emotional benefits of cycling.
Our inclusive cycling sessions provide access to a wide range of adapted cycles alongside support from our experienced team, helping participants build confidence, develop skills, get active and enjoy cycling alongside others.
The three-year commitment will provide important stability for our work in South Lakeland and help us continue developing opportunities for local people to access inclusive cycling.
Lucy Naylor, Inclusive Cycling Coordinator for Cumbria and Lancashire at Wheels for All, said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Cumbria Community Foundation and the Lakeland Disability Support Fund and Pappagallino Fund for this generous support. Securing funding over three years gives us greater stability and means we can continue providing regular opportunities for disabled people in South Lakeland to experience cycling in a way that is accessible, welcoming and enjoyable.
“We see first-hand at our Kendal Hub the difference inclusive cycling can make – whether that’s someone building their confidence, becoming more active, enjoying greater independence or simply having the opportunity to take part in an activity alongside other people. We’re really excited to build on what we have already achieved in Kendal and continue welcoming more people to our sessions over the coming years.”
Annalee Holliday, Head of Grants Practice & Programmes at Cumbria Community Foundation, said:
“We’re delighted to award this funding to Wheels for All to enable more people with disabilities and additional needs to take part in cycling and enjoy all the benefits it brings. One of our grant making priorities is to help people live healthier, happier lives, and we are confident that the activities run by the Kendal Hub will do just that.”
We would like to thank Cumbria Community Foundation, the Lakeland Disability Support Fund, the Pappagallino Fund and The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust for supporting our work to ensure disability or additional needs are not barriers to enjoying cycling.
Their support will help us continue creating opportunities for people across South Lakeland to get active, build connections and experience the freedom and enjoyment of cycling.
