The first week of June marks Volunteers’ Week, where those who give their time, dedication and expertise to organisations are celebrated for the amazing voluntary work they do. Our volunteers are simply invaluable to us, they all play a vital role in the success of our charity through our Board of Trustees to our Wheels for All, Pedal Away and Bike Buddy programmes across the country.
To commemorate this special week, we wanted to say a huge thank you to every volunteer who supports people to embrace cycling as a hobby or as part of an active lifestyle through Wheels for All centre sessions, on led rides, at community events, in the office, around a board room table and remotely, everything that you do helps to improve people’s confidence, develops cycle competency, raises funds, increases awareness and changes lives.
Tom Glynn, National Volunteer Coordinator at Wheels for All, said
“We are so proud of the accomplishments of all our volunteers over the last 12 months, it has been challenging to support people to cycle and get outdoors during the covid pandemic, but our talented volunteers overcame the challenges and adapted to new roles in a virtual capacity or maintaining fleets of bikes ready for when delivery could take place. Once cycling activities were able to take place, volunteers welcomed back participants, carers and families to rides with open arms and did their utmost to create a nurturing atmosphere to get everyone back on a bike.”
We are always looking for caring individuals to join our volunteer team, just a few hours can make all the difference in improving people’s lives through cycling.
