Wheels for All is proud to be delivering a specialist Cycle Maintenance Course in partnership with BikeRight, helping to build the skills and confidence of those supporting inclusive cycling across Greater Manchester.
Funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) through the Greater Manchester Inclusive Cycling Network, the course has now reached its halfway point, with participants already developing practical maintenance skills that will help keep cycles safe, functional and ready for use.
Developed jointly by BikeRight and Wheels for All, the hands-on training is designed to qualify learners to a Tier 2 standard. Delivered by an experienced cycle maintenance expert, the course covers essential pedal cycle maintenance tasks while also exploring how these core skills can be applied to specialist inclusive cycles.
By increasing maintenance knowledge across the network, the programme is helping organisations and individuals provide high-quality cycling opportunities for disabled people and others who may benefit from inclusive cycling.
Yvonne Stead, Regional Manager for Greater Manchester and Yorkshire at Wheels for All, said:
“The GM Inclusive cycling network is delighted with the progress of the course so far and the enthusiasm shown by participants. Developing the skills and confidence to maintain cycles safely is essential to the long-term sustainability of inclusive cycling provision. Thanks to the support of TfGM and our partnership with BikeRight, we are working together across the Greater Manchester Inclusive Cycling Network to strengthen inclusive cycling provision and ensure more people can access the life-changing benefits of cycling.”
The course forms part of the wider work of the Greater Manchester Inclusive Cycling Network, supporting organisations to share knowledge, develop skills and create more opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy cycling.
