We’re thrilled to be able to announce that one of our very own Wheels for All volunteers has won the Outstanding Contribution to the Community award at the 2024 Young Peoples Civic Awards. At just 13 years old, James has made a significant impact through his volunteer work at Wheels for All Woking, where he volunteers alongside his dad.
James’s dedication and enthusiasm for helping others shine through his work at the hub. His efforts have not gone unnoticed by those around him. Steve Aptel, a sessional worker at Wheels for All Woking who nominated James for the award, praised his commitment and positive attitude. “James has amazed me and the other volunteers with his positive and proactive contribution to Wheels for All Woking” James said “He takes the initiative and is always eager to assist when the need arises. This includes assisting with helmets, adjusting cycles, giving safety advice, and generally making participants feel welcome. We receive many positive remarks regarding his dedication and maturity.”
Philippa Curphy, the Regional Inclusive Cycling Manager for London and the South, also commended James’s achievements. “James exemplifies the spirit of community and inclusion that Wheels for All stands for,” Philippa remarked. “His hard work and kindness have made a real difference in the lives of many. We are so proud of his accomplishments and the bright future he has ahead of him.”
James’s award is a testament to his exceptional character and the positive influence he has on his community. His story serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that no matter your age, you can make a significant difference in the lives of others. Congratulations, James, on your well-deserved recognition!
