Summer's Story

Posted:

This is Summer. She cycles weekly with her school at Wheels for All Colchester. When Summer first came to the track, she struggled with keeping her feet on the pedals - turning them was almost impossible.

The first bike that she was able to steer and pedal, was a small upright hand cycle. Even this was tricky as the combined effort of turning the hand cranks, steering and then stopping was very difficult for her.

Slowly, we noticed Summer’s confidence growing; she has tried out a variety of trikes over the past school year and where once she would have been unable to steer or pedal a trike – she now approaches the cycling sessions with determination and resilience.

It is quiet stories like Summer’s that often have the biggest impact, because the change happens so gradually.
